Castania, officially the Commonwealth of Castania, is an island democratic republic located in southwest of the Esermian mainland. Geographically considered part of Siradia, the island nation is located west of Herastadt, south of Normanfara, and northwest of Terados. The capital and largest city is Cibela.
Archeological evidence dating to the 6th-millennia BC indicates ancient human activity on the island. Preserved Uban and Kepenite ruins pre-dating the Esermian Split suggest Castania was once connected to the mainland by a land-bridge. Following conquest by Nesgonics in the 1nd-millenia BC, the island was strategically vital in controlling Esermian & west-Siradian trade.
