The Faldarunic Lawspeaker election of 2017 was the 18th sexennial election for the position of Lawspeaker, held on 20 February 2017, after the early resignation of incumbent Mikaela Ólafsdóttir in late 2016. After a tense five-way race between candidates of the Confederate, Autonomist, Unionist, Totalist and newly-formed Progressive factions, the Autonomist nominee Marijke Heijmans was declared the victor, with Unionist nominee Friðrik Norbertsson gathering the second-most votes and newcomer Theudoricus Badulfsson ranking third.

The election ended twenty three years of consecutive Confederate Lawspeakers, and for the first time since Elijah Rosenberg's election in 1964 saw an Autonomist victory. In addition, the performance of the Progressive faction's nominee raised concern, as despite low poll ratings he performed better than both the Confederate and Totalist nominees. This led to allegations of illegality within the election, and to further allegations that the government of Khornera had attempted to influence the outcome of the election in favour of Badulfsson.

Despite these claims, the results of the election were considered valid, and on the 20th of March, 2017, Heijmans was sworn in as the 18th Lawspeaker of the Confederation. As of her inauguration, she is the first Helderian Lawspeaker, the youngest person to hold the office, and the first Autonomist Lawspeaker in almost fifty years.
