Helmut Rommel; (16 April 1931 – 13 June 2006) was an Besmenian film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is frequently cited as one of the most influential filmmakers in Besmenian cinematic history. His films cover a wide range of genres. Between 1957 and 2004 Rommel produced, wrote and directed 18 feature films.

Life

Rommel was born in Könlenz in 1931, where he also spent his childhood. From 1942 to 1948 he attended the Olaf-Mutsgut-Regelschule in Könlenz. He received average grades, but displayed a keen interest in literature, photography, and film from a young age, and taught himself all aspects of film production and directing after graduating. After graduating, he worked for the BRF until 1957. Rommel also shot a few reports for the BRF. With the money he earned, Rommel financed his first feature film, The Murderers in Us.

Helmut Rommel's films contain elements of realism and dark humor. His films Most of his films contain violence that is almost bloody. Also, moments of shock can often be seen in each of his films.

Most of his films are adaptations of novels.

Since Dr. Keinichten, Rommel has had a guest role in every one of his films. Sometimes he can be seen briefly for a few seconds, sometimes he has a few sentences.

Personal Life

In 1955 Rommel married the young actress Edna Sobarn. Rommel also gave her the lead role in The Murderers in Us. In 1960 the couple separated and a year later they divorced. In 1964, Rommel met Alisa Marke. The two married in 1966 and they had one son together: Frank Rommel (born March 5, 1969).

Political views

Rommel was a supporter of the Free Besmenian Citizen's Party and was a member of the party from 1958 until his death. Rommel supported Martin Beiter in the 1980 election campaign and donated him BS 150,000 for his campaign. Rommel also supported Beiter in the 1984 and 1988 election campaigns. Rommel and his family were also guests at Martin Beiter's inaugural speech in 1980.

Leagcy

Rommel's films enjoy a large fan base these days. Both parodies and homages to his films are prominent in Besmenian popular culture.

The Helmut Rommel House was opened in Laitstadt in 2010. This is a museum that shows sections from Rommel's life story and many original props from his films. The Helmut Rommel House was sponsored by his family.
