Henri J'oseph Melendez-DuPont is a Special Agent with the Departémente Sécurité Internal (ISD). He is know as Le Survivantière (The Survivor), for his near-death experiences, almost always involving a poison of some variety.
Early Life
Henri Melendez was born and raised in the mountain town of Montépaz in the central highlands of Topoguya. He was one of five siblings, with three brothers and a single sister. Henri attended L'Université Légal de Madrija, where he specialized in criminal justice. He graduated with honors and entered directly into the ISD as an Operator. It was during a vacation trip between semesters that he was bitten by an Armadeira and hospitalized.
ISD Career
Melendez started his career in the ISD as an operator based in Graçio specializing in counter-narcotics. He spent four years as part of a task force before he was promoted to Agent and switched over to homicide investigations, based in Madrija closer to his home in Montépaz. A key point of his career was when he and his partner were credited as key players in the capture of a ritualistic serial killer Maximilian Herrera, a.k.a. "Moonlight Max", who selected and killed his victims based on the lunar cycle.
Henri was chosen alongside Leonardo Tançias to investigate the murders of the disgraced senator Lanson Sãorules and his aide, Rando Sourez abroad in Brytene. When the mission turned sour, his partner Tançias chose to die fighting, while Melendez was taken alive as a hostage - but not before communicating the discrepancies of the case. He was intentionally exposed to the toxic agent sometime during his captivity, and was showing symptoms when he was released and rescued by Cuscatlani authorities. Melendez was promoted to the rank of Special Agent following his return and recovery.
Le Crésto Slayings
It is believed that Henri Melendez is working off-the-clock to assist with a number of killings, acts of vandalism and person threats in his hometown of Montépaz, all revolving around the holiday of Le Crésto.
Other Works & Personal Life
In 2016, Henri Melendez announced he would write a non-fiction tell-all regarding his experiences in captivity and the forensic evidence regarding the Sourez Murder Investigation. ISD Director Élena Perez D'Arnaut along with an internal affairs committee signed off on the publication of the book on the basis Melendez left out certain classified details of ISD procedure before and after the case.
During his free time Henri is still an avid outdoorsman, preferring both camping and fishing in the Sierra Grande range surrounding his hometown of Montépaz and his current residency of Madrija.,
