The Modern Centre Party (Weranic: Partei des Modernen Zentrums) abbreviated to PMZ is a centre-right political party in Werania. It is currently the junior partner in the current coalition government with the social-democratic Social Democratic Republican Party (SRPO) with PMZ leader Veronika Althammer serving as Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Finance. It also maintains a permanent electoral alliance with the small Sotirian Democratic Homeland, a Ruttish regionalist party.

The Modern Centre Party was founded in 1970 as a merger of the Democratic Republican Party (DRP) and the liberal-republican faction of the National Consolidation Party (NKP) following the 1970 student protests. The DRP was the former right-wing faction of the Radical and Republican Union that refused to merge into the SPRO in 1968, whilst following the student protests liberal members of the NKP supportive of the protests left the governing party. Initially these MP's functioned as a loose parliamentary group known as the Union of the Centre but in August 1970 merged to create the Modern Centre Party.

The founding document of the party established it as an upholder of the radical, liberal republican tradition in Weranian politics. It advocated social and economic liberalisation alongside pro-Eucleanism in order to challenge the long held hegemony of the NKP and the SPRO. The party soon became the dominant pro-Eucleanist party but was locked out of government due to the dominance of the two-party system.

Following the 1983 election the PMZ entered as a junior coalition partner of the first "purple" government of Ludolf Ostermann between SPRO and PMZ. The Ostermann government was noted internationally for its social and economic liberal policies with the PMZ being a strong force in the marketisation of the Weranic economy. The purple government was re-elected in 1987 and 1991 but lost power in 1995.

The PMZ stayed in opposition during this where they created an alliance with the Sotirian Democratic Homeland (SDT), a Sotirian democratic party that exclusively ran in Ruttland. In the 2007 election the PMZ nominated SDT leader Rasa Šalaševičiūtė as its chancellor candidate, with Šalaševičiūtė leading the PMZ-SDT to its best ever result becoming the largest party in the Volkstag, forming a grand coalition with the SPRO. The unpopularity of the grand coalition led to PMZ to have a landslide victory under Šalaševičiūtė in the 2011 election when it formed a majority government. The Šalaševičiūtė government implemented several economically liberal reforms to deal with the 2000's Euclean financial crisis. Šalaševičiūtė retired from national politics in 2014 with PMZ leader Dietrich Wittmann becoming Chancellor. In 2015 the PMZ lost a large amount of seats resulting in it forming a purple government with the SPRO which became the senior partner in government.

Modern Centre is often seen as a liberal conservative party with the majority of its members supporting economic liberalism and centrist social views. However there exists Sotirian Democratic and social liberal factions. PMZ is considered the most pro-Euclean party in Werania being a member of the Alliance of Conservatives and Democrats for Euclea (ACDE).
