Vanjen Shinbun (Ванджен Шинбун), which translates to English as "Nightly News," is a daily news program produced by Namorese Radio-Television (PTH). Shown simultaneously by most terrestrial television channels in mainland Namor, it is one of the world's most-watched programs. It was first produced in January 1, NMR 2305.

Vanjen Shinbun almost always reports on government activities first, mainly the activities of the President-General, Vice President and the Central Council, the national legislature. Then, the program proceeds to report on non-government related domestic news stories, international news stories, sports news and the weather. It is the most-watched daily news program among Namorese, both those living in Namor and overseas.

History

Vanjen Shinbun first came on air in NMR 2305, not long before the onset of the Green Fever. During the Green Fever years, its presenters were always Green Youth members and most of its reports were propaganda promoting Yunglang Antelope's personality cult and the GYO's activities. Every newscast began with a quotation from Yunglang.

Vanjen Shinbun started to report real news starting the NMR 2310s. After the NMR 2315 Namorese political crisis, GYO members were pulled off the program and professional adult newscasters took over. Most of the propaganda was removed and the quality of reporting improved.

Name

Vanjen Shinbun is broadcast solely in Namorese, but it is viewed by people who do not speak Namorese as well. As such, it has been known by many names:

  • 信息每𣎀 (Tin tức mỗi đêm) - in Antelopian
  • ຂ່າວຕໍ່ຄືນ (Khav To Khun) - in Khao
  • 各夜通信 (Kaye Tonsin) - in Chorean
  • Nochyu Novisi - in Luziycan

Format and Distribution

Vanjen Shinbun is a national news simulcast, as it is not only broadcast on PTH and its channels, but almost every regional and local television channel in mainland Namor. On PTH, it is broadcast daily starting exactly 19:00 Namo Time (UTC -5 in the winter and -4 in the summer). The entire program lasts for around 30 minutes, starting with the headline news before more detailed reports are explored. Sometimes the broadcast time extends well beyond 30 minutes under special circumstances, usually when the program is delivering important news (for example, the Vanjen Shinbun broadcast on June 28, NMR 2355 lasted for an entire hour to cover the attacks that happened that same day).

The language spoken in Vanjen Shinbun is Namorese in Standard dialect. When broadcast on non-Namorese language television stations such as TLD, the program is either dubbed or subtitled.

Vanjen Shinbun is mainly presented by two speakers - one male and female. An additional speaker presents the weather.

News

Vanjen Shinbun begins with Domestic News (Гукнеи Шинбун), which covers news ranging from recent activities of the President-General to other news that happen inside Namor. It then goes on to International News (Гукдже Шинбун), Sports (Тию) and Weather (Кесонг).
