Heraldry

History

Origins

The 121st Fighter Squadron was introduced in 2004 to meet the large influx of Anemonian M.Cs 8 Illusion aircraft and their integration to the Aquitaynian Armed Services. As it is the primary multirole fighter of the Air Force, the 121st were one of the first Air Force units to receive the brand new aircraft and begin operations in Ceria. The pilots were pulled from units across the service, including special operation groups, to allow such a new aircraft to succeed in a high stress environment; likewise, the unit was initially a Training Squadron.

8th Air Wing

The 121st Fighter Squadron was moved to the 8th Air Wing on 21 January, 2014, as the Air Wing was transferring its base of operations from Metropolitan Aquitayne to Colonial Aquitayne, on assignment for the defense of the new colony of Cape Town, Insula Fera. Prior to that, the squadron acted as TRAINDIV's training squadron for all new pilots who would end up flying the M.Cs 8 Illusion aircraft.

The 121st is also the only squadron within the 8th Air Wing to have lost an aircraft during Operation North Star, on mission in the Humanitarian Intervention in Insula Fera.
