The 1st Royal Guardsmen Division, otherwise known as the 1st Guardsmen Division, is an infantry/Guardsmen Division of the TECT Royal Guard. It is traditionally known as being the longest continuous serving Royal Guard Division (both military and Guardsmen), being among the highest decorated, and for having special honors related to past events. 1st Division is popularly known for its garrison and deployment to the Homeland State where it serves as the protector of many government sites, buildings, the embassy district in the capital, having troops as part of the capital police's reaction forces, and for having units that directly protect the Emperor and his family; 1st Division also makes up part of the State's/District's active military units on standby, acting as quick-reaction and internal security forces, or, to deploy on overseas/domestic operations. Among their nicknames are "Immortal Origins" (a moniker of the myth that Royal Guardsmen are immortal soldiers - signifying they're the original Immortals) and "1st Castle Wall", which signifies that they're the first line of defense in a castle that protects the Emperor; an unofficial nickname, "Black Bloody 1st", relates to their war torn past as a military unit. 1st Division is currently deployed and garrisoned to Fort Antony in Homeland State - the Emperor's Retreat, a palace like mountain fortress that's militarily protected, (Fort Steinhalle) acts as a secondary homestay for stationed Guardsmen.

The current commanding officer of 1st Division is Generalmajor (Major General) Petrus Böttcher, a seasoned officer in the Royal Guard; he is proceeded by Obersts (Colonels) Vinzent Ursler, the vice-commanding officer, and Oswald Hoch, the Sergeant-at-Arms. Both men also serve as Regimental commanders. Originally, the first commanding officer of 1st Division when the Royal Guard was conceived was Erzherzog (Archduke) Burkhard Waldvogel, the branch's founder. This fact is often what historians point to when stating 1st Division was the original Royal Guard unit before additional recruitment for military purposes. This historical fact makes 1st Division a very revered and respected unit in both the Royal Guard and the TECT Armed Forces. Most Royal Guard commanders, like Sec. GEN Alphonse who heads the military branch, originated from 1st Division where they served as commanding officers at some point before being promoted.

Organization & Structure

Guardsmen from 1st Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion, bearing their decorated uniforms and traditional rifles - part of a traditional ceremony.

1st Division is made up of a fifteen thousand man unit, hence its organizational title. It is made up of a heavy mechanized infantry regiment, airborne regiment, infantry regiment, military police and Support/Services battalions, reconnaissance and air-defense battalions, and the Headquarters battalion. Although the majority of the Division comprises of infantry forces, the unit has many heavily armed ground vehicles such as the Bär Heavy APC/IFV as support with artillery pieces ranging from howitzers to mortars as fire support, variable amount of Marine aircraft, and more civilian friendly armored wheeled vehicles.

As a Royal Guard unit, each infantry unit comes standard with the traditional armor and armament layout similar to Marine loadouts; this includes AR Fortgeschritten rifles instead of AR Scorpion rifles and various uniform options. However, as a Guardsmen unit, 1st Division infantry soldiers are issued a traditional ceremonial uniform and a modern produced Karabiner 98k. These ceremonial attires are for special events, civilian ceremonial stations, and other formal events; fully combat uniformed units are present in many quick-reaction stations if needed, however.
