The AKY-3M is an assault rifle produced in Inyursta. It is a modernized variant of the earlier AKY-3 rifle, itself an unlicensed copy of the AK-74. It is the primary assault rifle used by units of Inyursta's military and federal-level police forces.
Design
As part of the 1990's Povèra Milleníairé 2000 program, the Inyurstan military set about modernizing its existing assault rifles in service. Lighter weight for the expeditionary soldier was considered a priority, as Inyursta was shifting away from a defense-based military to an offensive, power-projecting military.
The AKY-3 series is made of lightweight carbon fiber and shatter-proof plastic parts, save for the barrel and receiver; while the 3M model uses the SACTO 5.7x44mm, which allows the average infantryman to carry almost twice as many rounds compared to the previous 7.62x39mm.
Service
Being the primary rifle in service with both the Inyurstan Army and Inyurstan Marine Corps, the AKY-3M has seen widespread use in several conflicts. The most prolific of such being the Lolloh-Ruol Wars. Both soldiers and marines reported satisfaction with the new rifle, though veteran NCOs claimed that the new designs were not as durable and able to handle the dirty, wear-and-tear of the older-style AKY-2 series.
Both army and marine units typically equip their rifles with a Y2N1 x2-x5.5 magnification adjustable scope, as well as foregrips. It is rumored the 51st Airborne Regiment equips their AKY-3M rifles with a unique bayonet.

Export
The AKY-3M is a moderately exported weapon, with users primarily in either Ameríca Libré or Afruika. Primary state users outside of Inyursta include Tifya, Sugogo, and the Cevronik Isles, though Mokujangu and certain units of the Cuscatlani armed forces also use the AKY-3M. Rebels in the southern regions of Bulgar Rouge had utilized the AKY-3M, and several anti-reunification militias in the former Lollohian republic of Tyvar also possess a number of this rifle.
It is also available on the civilian market, though unit cost outside of military surplus typically runs around $Y800 ($500 USD).
