The Vanagan-Berj ARH8 is a Ruvelkan medium twin-turbine utility helicopter designed and manufactured by Vanagan-Berj Rotorcraft as an upgrade to its previous–but venerable–ARH6. It is most commonly employed by both the Imperial Fusiliers and the Imperial Army as a transport helicopter, but can fulfill a number of roles ranging from airborne command post, armed gunship, and reconnaissance. Development of a replacement for the ARH6 began in the mid-1970s with the first prototype taking flight in 1979; the ARH8 began serialized production in 1981.
