Aalen is the second-largest city in New Anea with a population of 1.1 million people. It is located on the north shore of Lake Nessel and is a major transport hub, connecting railroads from Besmenia and dispersing them to the rest of New Anea. Aalen's municipal territory consists of waterways, woodland, agriculture, and green spaces with spacious parks, in a stark contrast with nearly a hundred years of extensive coal mining and steel milling in the past. Since the collapse of its century-long steel and coal industries, the region has adapted and shifted to high-technology biomedical technology, micro systems technology, and also services. Other key sectors include retail, leisure and tourism economy, creative industries, and logistics.
