Ahmad Amantose, sometimes referred to by his nom de guerre Dàwwímúg (Estmerish: Big dog) is a Machaï rebel commander who has lead the People's Coalition for Makanian National Sovereignty since 2010. A member of the more hardline faction of the People's Coalition, Amantose has sworn not to negotiate with the Mabifian government until Mahmadou Jolleh-Bande is not in power.

Early life

Amantose was born Gelikawarte and is a member of the Úrúm tribe. His parents were fighters in the Makanian independence struggle and he was recruited as a child solider. He did not go to school and is therefore illiterate, speaking only Machaï and broken Gaullican in press statements.

Career

Amantose has fought with the CPSNM for his whole life, gaining a reputation for his strategic vision and bravery. He was promoted several times folloing combat situations, eventually becoming the right hand man of Étienne Migiti, the group's former leader.

Leadership struggle

In 2009, following Migiti's assassination, he led the so called "Big Dog Faction" of the CPSNM during its leadership crisis, who were opposed to negotiations towards a more federal system in Mabifia. His faction was eventually victorious, leading Amantose to take the position of military commander.

Accusations

Under Amantose, the CPSNM is accused of several war crimes. These include the recruiting of child soldiers, targetting of Ndjarendie non combatants, and war rape. Amantose himself is accused by many of having taken part in such crimes.
