Alexander Desende (born 12 December 1948) is an Elbresian politician currently serving as the President of Elbresia, having succeded Gilles Martin in the 2022 general election. Desende was born in Oftbon. Desende started his career as a lawyer, and later as a journalist. He joined the Conservative Party in the 1970s, becoming a Deputy-Mayor of Oftbon in 1978. During that time, he helped draft Elbresia's reformed 18th-constitution in 1981. Since 1999, Desende has been the leader of the Conservative Party. He created a center-right coalition, the Democratic Alliance, with the People's Party in 1998. He has long pushed for conservative policies, including less government overreach, a more nationalistic/individual-approach to global affairs, increased reliance on the mining and drilling of natural resources, and lower taxes. His most notable pursuit is the end of Elbresia's membership within the Alliance of Nortuan States, despite Elbresia's leading role and positioning of the Nortuan Congress, which is ANS' legislative body.
