Algá Brasní, née Selg; born 6th December 1975) is a Sloverti politician who has been President of Slovertia since 22nd of November 2015. Brasní is the first woman to hold the presidency, as well as the youngest president in the history of Slovertia, elected at the age of 40.
Early Life
Algá Brasní was born into a working-class family in Kojbakvy In Slovertia.
As an undergraduate at Vraliegá University of North Kojbakvy, he served as Vice-Auditor of the college's Literary and Debating Society in 1995-97, and rose to the position of Auditor in the academic year. She also served as President of the Students' Union. In 1997, Brasní graduated from the Risí University, Brativas with a Master of Arts degree in Sociology.
Writing
When aged 15 Brasní had a short story published under a pseudonym in Pozorovateľ and then won a competition to write a column about teenage life for their "Weekend" section, which she continued writing for several years. Brasní has written several books, three of which based on Brasní's childhood in Kojbakvy all three have gone on to be bestsellers and win several awards.
She wrote columns in Narodny Spravy in their magazine. Her coloumns were well recieved.
Political Career
After finishing her edication Brasní worked in the local government of Kojbakvy as an assistant in the legal department.
Brasní joined the Sloverti Labour Party soon after in 2000 and was eventually persuaded to run as candidate for Kojbakvy North in the 2005 general election. Brasní won the seat. She also served as a member of the Education, Culture and Sport Committee and the Health and Community Care Committee.
In 2015 Brasní ran for the presidential candidicy for the Sloverti Labour party winning the candidicy with 56% of her party's votes. Brasní won the presidential election of 2015 with 58% of the public vote abd was sworn into office in Brativas one month later.
Presidency
Brasní was inaugurated as President of Slovertia in Brativas on the 16th December 2015. She receives an annual salary of 2,500,000 Sloverti Korunas, having requested during his first term that the Department of Public Expenditure reduce her salary by 23.5%.
In the August of 2020, Brasní announced that she would stand for a second term as president in the 2020 Sloverti presidential election. Brasní won the 2020 presidential election with 58% of the vote on the first count. Her nearest rival, Rían Mäsiar , finished on 21%. Brasní was inaugurated as president of Slovertia in Brativas in a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Rupert Wilmar, and former presidents Ladislav Mokrý and Stefná Mráz, as well as representatives of all political parties.
Family Life
Her husband, Walter Brasní, is an authour and a native of Kojbakvy.

Brasní has campaigned on women's rights and gender equality, and is a self-described feminist.
