Anikatia-Rodarion Relations refer to international relations between the Republic of Anikatia and the Papal Republic of Rodarion (Anikatian: 안니카탸-로다리온 관계 ; annikatya-lodalion gwangye). Anikatia and Rodarion relations are generally warm, substantial and driven by mutual interests, with both nations having close ties. In recent times the relations have expanded beyond strong economic and commercial links to other spheres, including culture, tourism, defence and scientific cooperation.

There have been some tensions in the relationship with Anikatia (then the DSRA) and Rodarion were on opposing sides of the Cold War and face periods of open conflict most notably during the Nazali War. Some Anikatian analysts and business leaders see Rodarion as a vital export and trading market and an essential element in Anikatia's future growth and prosperity. Rodarion on its part regards Anikatia as the most important trading partner in the Far East.

Despite cultural differences, Rodarion has become a key economic trading partner in the post-Cold War environment. Rodarion was one of the first nations from outside traditional Cold War alliances to purchase Anikatian military hardware from the DSRA, these sales were crucial during a period of economic crisis. Since then both powers have sought mutual gain from shared economic cooperation, including a number of joint venture programmes.

Although these close relations have been tested by recent tensions between Anikatia and RCO members, they have so far it has proved robust enough to transcended the political strain. As of 2014, Aniktaia has Pardes' fourth-largest economy and Rodarion the second-largest. According the Global Monetary Fund, Anikatia-Rodarion trade links may be one of the most valuable in east-west trade. Public opinion of both countries is positive, Anikatia is viewed positively by 67% of Rodarians, whilst Rodarion is viewed positively by 61% of Anikatians, the high level of popularity is both countries is recognised as a result of positive spin by both nation's media.

History

Cold War

Post-Cold War

Following the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the DSRA, Anikatia inherited the warming ties that defined bi-lateral ties between the two states since the mid-1980s. In 2000, Pope Benedict XII made his second trip to Antiytia, his first being made in 1989. During his trip, Pope Benedict XII welcomed the new Anikatian state, "I welcome to the Republic of Anikatia, as we bid farewell to the DSRA. Yet my hand still holds that of the Anikatian people regardless of flag or political creed now in use". Although ties greatly improved since the 1980s, the new Anikatian state provided a smoother and more rapid improvement in relations, in 2002 Consul Urbano Tucci made his first trip to Anikatia after winning the 2002 general election, there he and President Yun Ho-jin signed over $4.5 billion in trade agreements and investment protection schemes.

In 2003, the Tucci government initiated reforms that eased the process of Anikatians investing in the Papal Republic, a second trip was made in December 2003, where over $10 billion worth of deals involving the import of Anikatian capital goods was signed. Many commentators between 2003 and 2004 began to argue that the "Rodar-Anikatian relationship is on the up, more so than any other bi-lateral relationship involving the former anti-communist world and Anikatia", from 2004 onwards however, bi-lateral agreements began to expand outside of trade and financial mechanisms, towards joint-scientific and military projects. In 2005, the Tucci government signed a deal worth close to $20 billion for the production rights to the MyL-21 fighter-jet, in exchange the Anikatian government received Rodarian assistance in modernising their cruise missile technology. However the fastest growing area of military cooperation was in air defence systems.

In 2009, Anikatian President Dai Ji-seok traveled to Romula where he met Pope Pius III and Consul Urbano Tucci, during his state visit Tucci proclaimed Anikatia Rodarion's "greatest partner and friend in the East, we cannot deny that we have found a friend out of the darkness and mistrust of the Cold War, the Cold War truly died in Antiytia and Romula." In 2011, Consul Ottavio Civitarese made his second foreign visit to Anikatia, there he and President Baek Myung-hee signed the Declaration of Friendship, Cooperation for the Pursuit of Harmony, this followed by a free-trade agreement in April the same year. By 2012, Anikatia had become Rodarion's third largest trading partner and the second largest source for foreign-direct investment. Between the 3-5 February 2013, the two countries hosted joint cabinet meetings where they discussed the geopolitical situation developing in the Far-East with regards to the growth of the Romula Cooperation Organisation, but also a joint-effort to preserve peace and stability in the far-east, the same year the Rodarian government succeeded in securing Anikatian membership in the EG3, the addition of Anikatia, increased the economic influence of the group by a great margin, both governments declared the addition of Anikatia as a "success for the Far-East and the pursuit of international cooperation and harmony".

Following the death of Pope Pius III and Pope Constantine XIV's appointment, relations further improved with the efforts of Pope Constantine, between 2014 and 2015 the supreme leader of Rodarion had visited Anikatia twice, both times meeting with the leaders of the Yeosindo faith and proclaiming inter-faith harmony "begins in the Far-East due to their religious preference for peace, harmony and tranquility of spirit, we have much to learn in Christendom". Consul Civitarese and President Sui Anyi appear to enjoy a friendly relationship and have made numerous statements confirming that both countries share mutual interests and intentions for the international order.
