Arend Schoten (born 21 December 1975) is a Jyaueze economist and politician serving from 2022-2023 as the Chancellor of Jyau, having been selected by the Senate to serve as interim-Chancellor after the resignation of Matthias Cerfbeer and later appointed Chancellor. Schoten inherited a deep economic crisis in the wake of Cerfbeer's resignation and oversaw the process of negotiations for a bailout for Jyau's banking system by neighboring nations. He faced steep criticism and public opposition for his decision to postpone the 2022 Senate elections and the suppression of demonstrations. He resigned in November of 2022, but stayed in office until his successor Anton Wimmer took office in January. First elected to serve as the Minister of Finance in 2012 under Felix Langsdale, Schoten has also been criticized for his policies which many attribute to the ongoing crisis.
