The Attorney General of Zamastan leads the Department of Justice of Zamastan and is the chief law enforcement officer of the federal government of Zamastan. The attorney general serves as the principal advisor to the President of Zamastan on all legal matters. The officeholder is nominated by the president of Zamastan, then appointed with the advice and consent of the Senate. The attorney general is supported by the Office of the Attorney General, which includes executive staff and several deputies. The attorney general is the only member of the cabinet who cannot be terminated by the president due to the separation of the executive and judicial branches, but a president can request their resignation. They are, however, subject to a Senate vote to determine reelection every two years, and it is required that they step down upon presidential transition unless the incoming president requests that they stay, as was the case with Arthur Aubert. The current attorney general is Katelyn Rasse.
