Bastion Arms Rotary Blaster Cannon

Thrashian Imperial Army Equipment

The successor of the Z-6 Rotary Blaster Cannon, the Bastion Arms Inc. version is nicknamed, simply, the 'Imperial Rotary Blaster Cannon'. Designed alongside that of the Katarn-pattern Heavy Blaster Rifle, the IRBC is another weapon system that utilizes multiple barrels.

Decription

Significantly lighter than the Z-6 which preceded it, due to the use of new composite materials developed since the Empire of Thrashia arrived within the Milky Way Galaxy, the IRBC is incredibly well loved by the troopers that use it.

Like the Z-6 before it, the IRBC works around the basic limitation in capabilities inherent in typical man-portable blaster weapons, incorporating the rotary assembly of six barrels, each with its own actuating chamber, wrapped around a coolant-lined core. The galven circuitry used in the blaster means that the IRBC, like the Z-6, has both a high cyclic discharge rate and good cooling, allowing for a tremendous sustained rate of fire. Despite its impressive firepower, the weapon had several notable limitations, specifically the high rate of energy pack consumption.

The power settings for the weapon, like the Katarn-pattern Heavy Blaster Rifle, is adjustable. This allows the user to operate the weapon at the most effective setting for maximum efficiency. The user does not need the power setting used for melting through thick armor as they do when firing at less well armored infantry.

The weapon's handle is adjustable as well, capable of changing positions based upon whether the user is firing from a standing or prone position.

Variants

The Mark II Shoulder-Mounted Rotary Blaster Cannon is a heavier version of the IRBC. It is purposefully meant to be attached to a power generator pack carried on the back of it's user and be fired from that position. Because this variant is much heavier and dependent upon a power generator pack instead of a cartridge it is largely only given to Heavy Weapon Specialists that operate in organic detachments at the company and battalion level. This one is entirely dependent upon HUD assisted aiming and targeting for effective firing and operation.
