History

1842-1848: William Cimantal's Hostility

William Cimantal, throughout his tenure, expressed his hatred towards the republic. Cimantal was afraid of what the country would do and would preach his hatred to all those would listen. He believed that, as the Prime Minister, his word was absolute.

1849-1851: A New Beginning

When Leon Carlend was elected in 1848, one of his promises was to fix the relations between the two nations, which he began to do the following year in 1849, starting with a meeting in Zouterhem, which saw promise as they both signed an agreement to help each-other enhance security, as well as open trades for goods and services. Despite both leaders wanting to look past what William Cimantal did as Prime Minister Soeterik views PM Carlend as a different person, thus more reasonable, this caused controversy within the people of both nations. The citizens both saw this trade agreement as something the other country could take advantage of, leading to much skepticism.
