The Brytisc Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is Brytene's public-service broadcaster, headquartered at the Saltmarket in Lundene.

It is the one of the world's oldest national broadcasting organisations, and employs more than 20,000 people across the world. It offers 24/7 news coverage and a range of documentary, political, drama, sports, and comedy programming, as well as radio and online services.

History

The BBC was founded as a military project in 1905, during the First Great Atlasian War. Fleet command recognised the need for a state-sponsored information service that could keep the public informed on recent events, issue advice and warnings, and broadcast propaganda to boost public morale.

Following the war, the general public opinion was that the BBC should remain - it was seen as a symbol of Brytisc unity and many people had become familiar with the voices, melodies, and programmes present on the BBC.

A governmental committee was set up to discuss the matter and, following a referendum on the subject, proposed that the BBC be established as an independent civilian entity funded by license fees. The proposal was accepted and since then, the BBC has expanded to become a familiar and beloved service watched across the globe, famed for its impartiality and brutally honest reporting. BBC sports commentators such as Dun Dorr are popular throughout Atlas for their witty and irreverent commentary, whilst Pam Terpahl is feared by politicians throughout Atlas for her forceful and piercing interview technique.

Services

Television

The RBS operates three primary television channels within Brytene, funded entirely by licensing fees and therefore devoid of commercial advertising.

BBC One offers regular newscasts, along with sports, talkshows, and documentary programming. It is considered the flagship channel of the BBC and is also available in HD. BBC One broadcasts continuously.

BBC Two is the fiction channel of the BBC and offers a range of contemporary and period drama, film premieres, soaps, and sitcoms as well as short 60-Second-News updates. BBC Two broadcasts from 6am to midnight.

BBC Lite is the newest addition to the channel, and offers a range of panel shows, talk shows, game shows and more. It is also the only BBC channel to show foreign-produced programming. BBC Lite programming starts at 5pm and continues until 3am.

BBC World Service

The BBC World Service is a single English-language channel available throughout Atlas. It is supported by advertisements, unlike the three primary BBC channels. It primarily offers international news and cultural pieces, and operates 24/7.

Radio

The BBC operates nine AM radio stations across Brytene, two of which operate 24/7.

These channels cover a range of local, national, and international news and topics, as well as talkshows, podcasts, quiz shows and sports coverage. Additionally, they play music from a variety of local and international sources. Some of them are part-funded by advertising.

Internet

www.bbc.bry is a major online site and offers a wide range of online journalism and news pieces, as well as interest pieces ranging from cooking to specialist blogs. Live streams of the majority of television and radio programming from within the last 14 days are available online for Brytisc license fee payers.
