Byzvild (pronounced /bʏʒvelt/, Nevel dialect: Buskrfeldn, pronounced /bʏɕkɹfeldn̩/) is a city in western Vyvland, the tenth-largest in the country with a population of around 500,000. It is also the capital and largest city of the province of Nevel. Byzvild is a regional centre for Nevel and Bajre provinces, with a rapidly-growing, yet still relatively poor, economy based on shipping, trade and basic service industries. It is also the home of Byzvild Naval Base, the second-largest base operated by the Vyvlander Navy.

Byzvild is located on the mouth of the River Ryzer, the second-longest in Vyvland, and between the Melers Volcano to the southwest and the Bajre Mountains to the northeast, which mark the boundary of the modern-day province of Bajre and the historic country of North Vyvland. It also lies to the north of the Nevel Marshes, a vast expanse of low-lying, poorly-drained and historically impoverished ground to the south, over which the last reaches of the Ryzer flow.

The city has long been a trade stop on journeys between continental Western Esquarium (Geadland, Luziyca, Inleda) to the south and Ghant, Nordania and Nevanmaa to the north, with the wide estuary being easy to manoeuver boats through. Connection to the national railway system in the 1840s made goods transport far easier from Byzvild, which now began to supply the urban centres of Vyvland, including the rich industrial heartland of Stanmer and Lyksdal. However, it continually competed with Strossen to the south for the position Vyvland's dominant port. Gradually, it was outdone by Strossen, which grew very rapidly from the late nineteenth century onwards. Byzvild entered terminal decline, which was further exacerbated by its cutting-off from significant parts of its hinterland after the Vyvlander Civil War.

Byzvild was relatively inaccessible from the rest of South Vyvland, although this changed with reunification in 1983. Since then, significant investment in Byzvild, such as the µ180 million re-opening of a train line to nearby Sebris, has delivered some prosperity to the area, although unemployment still remains above 10% and incomes are low.

The city is represented by five Wetaans in the Parliament of Vyvland; three from the Socialist Party and two from the National Party. The current city council is controlled by a Socialist Party-Liberal Party administration.
