The Cavian Royal Armed Forces Terminal (CRAFT) are the military forces of Cavia. It consists of four branches- the Army, Navy, Aeronautics Division, and Special Operations Division. The Prime Minister of Cavia and incumbent monarch are joint High Marshals of CRAFT. While the monarch's position as High Marshal is purely ceremonial, the Prime Minister has official duties within the military, helping to execute military policy in tandem with the Cavian Ministry of Defence and Cavian Ministry of National Security both federal executive departments, acting as the principal organs by which military policy is carried out.
From the time of its inception, the Cavian armed forces played a decisive role in the history of Cavia. A sense of national unity and identity was forged as a result of victory in the Cavian War of Independence. Cavia's first ruler and monarch, Oscar the Founder, was supportive of a government-run military, and thus it was created. It played a critical role in the Cavian Civil War, continuing to serve as the official armed forces of Cavia, although a number of its officers resigned to join the military of seceded state Neo-Abyssinia. The Constitutional rewrites of 1442 and later amendments, as well as laws passed to the Cavian Constitution, dictate the official function and framework of the Cavian military, forming the aforementioned Ministry of Defence for external military affairs, as well as the Ministry of National Security for internal security matters.
The Cavian armed forces are among the largest in the world, due to its extensive education and benefits program, drawing many young Cavians to serve due to its benefits. Over 65% of its members are under the age of 25. There are also tax deductions for Cavian Reserve members. 2018 military records show that there were over 4,250,400 active military members and over 340 million in reserves, showing that 2.7% of Cavians were on active duty, with almost one-third being Reserve members.
As of 2018, Cavia spends about US$3.05 trillion annually to fund its military forces and overseas military operations, or almost 12% of the Cavian budget. CRAFT has significant capabilities in both defense and power projection due to its large budget, resulting in advanced and powerful equipment and its widespread deployment of force around the world, including about 400 military bases spanning the world. The Cavian Aeronautics Division is the world's largest air force, the Cavian Navy is the world's fourth-largest navy by tonnage, the Cavian Army is the world's second-largest by personnel, and the Cavian Commando Division is the world's largest special-operations force.
