The Cavians are a nation and an ethnic group native to Cavian who speak the Cavian language, among others. The Cavian identity is of early medieval origin, when they were known in Old Cavian as the Ca'vnain ("Coastal southern people"). Their ethnonym is derived from the the later Cavian term Cav'in, which became a word referring to the peoples inhabiting what would later become present-day Cavia.

The Cavians are descended from the tribes that headed south from northern Tanteria, where the Cavians are thought to have evolved from, around 3500 BC.

Due to the Cavian diaspora, mainly around the 1800s, because of the Neo-Abyssinian crisis, around 3,000,000 Cavians moved to other nations around the world, causing many ethnic Cavians to have settled in other nations around the world, mainly Byrdï, Hamsteria, and Sheepers.

The Cavian people are the source of the Cavian language, the modern Parliamentary system, a basic civil rights document, and numerous major sports such as armball, Cavian-rules football, and cuisine as well as other cultural aspects.
