Celestial Path scandal of 2016
The Celestial Path scandal of 2016 was a scandal within the Royal Quenminese Army that occured during the Imperial Crisis, concerning of a covert military project of the same name that used to be ongoing in the Hung Ranh Research Institute, located within the An Hong Province. The subject gained prominence after an operation, initiated by Task Force 141 to subvert ARPAGHARCON's activities within in the province, consolidated its rediscovery. Eventually, prior to the uncovering of human augmentation machines, railgun and laser projects, and terminated test subjects, the Allied High Command urged the Quenminese government to investigate the nature of the project. Subsequently, the investigation led to the fact that some members of the Quenminese military and the economy clandestinely supported the Quenminese and Bethausian rebel movement, as well as the Gallian military, and have actually planned to distribute railguns and other secret weaponry throughout all of Southeast Asianna and Gallia, in order to consolidate Axis influence within the two regions. All of their actions were eventually brought to naught, thanks to a successful Allied intervention, which resulted in the arrest of six Quenminese military officials, 2 Gallian military officers, and five corporate CEOs, including 26 military subordinates in the Quenminese army and 1 CEO being killed.
Background
Project Celestial Path was a military plan of the Royal Quenminese Army to augment the nation's military standing at a phenomenal rate, via the use of [sic] computers and drones. Approved by the Director of the National Committee for the Security of the Monarchy and its deputy in 1992 and given the Internet Revolution that had been occuring all over Quenmin, the military had undergone reforms of applying the recent technological and digital innovations into its arsenal. By signing contracts with Tran Electornics, Xuong Thang Tech and other scientific companies in Quenmin, they were able to provide much computers, technical products, and servers, in order to implement their plan; however, the military wanted to expand more on them. By November, they had managed to make a covert contact with the Imperials and the Loricans on metals, chemicals, and materials, especially ragnite, that would lead to the production of special weaponry.
When the Lucian monarch, Regis Lucis Caelum CXIII visited the state in 1993 in order to form the Thien Dai Agreement, the Quenminese military began to grow paranoid of the situation, because of its potential for the Commonwealth to intervene in Quenminese economic affairs. In order to conceal its nature, the military announced to the staff of the Research Institute that it would implement budget cuts to close the facility down. After 1993, it seemed dormant, but there have been rumors among the Quenminese conspiracists and tourists that the military is still running projects in the black.
