China, officially the People's Republic of China, is a country in East Asia. Formed after the communist victory in the Chinese Civil War, the PRC was long ruled by the dictator Mao Zedong, whose "Great Leap Forward" and "Cultural Revolution" plans led to turmoil and poverty. Thus, after Mao's death, a number of warring factions arose, vying for power in what became known as the Second Chinese Civil. The most powerful of these, the Chinese People's Liberation Army, is composed of reformist members of the Chinese Communist Party and is backed by the government of the Mongol Uls.
