Comrade Ambassador is a popular political satire and comedy series that is currently broadcast on TVN One. It is known for highlighting comedic elements about both Malgravean and Breheimian society, and the oddities of international diplomacy and Breheimian politics.

History

Breheim is considered to be Malgrave's longest official ally, as formal relations between the two countries were established before the end of isolationism as part of the negotiations surrounding the Epping-Rensk Agreement. Unofficially, the relationship is even deeper as the Socialist Republic of Malgrave maintained strong ties with the Breheiman government throughout the civil war period.

As a result of this close connection, the Breheimian community within Malgrave is sizeable and likewise the number of Malgraveans within Breheim is notable within certain regions of the country like Storvik and Alfby, with the emergence of communities referred to as Little Malland by locals.

It is this closeness that has been credited with the success of Malgravean media within Breheim, and the development of films and television series set in Breheim, with Organised Chaos and Foreign Detective being notable examples.

In 2022 TVN started work on a new project designed to highlight and poke fun at this diplomatic relationship, with the broadcaster hiring Mirko Marconi due to his previous success with Organised Chaos.

Cast/Characters

Character Description
Kim Hye-jin as Park Eun-hye Park Eun-hye is an experienced career diplomat that has worked in junior positions in the Dornalian Republic and Kouralia for over a decade. In her years of service Eun-hye gained a reputation for her lengthy list of contacts, and her ability to think outside of the box and offer quick solutions to emergent diplomatic crisis, although, her discomfort at social gatherings and hatred of press events is known to have hindered her career advancement.

Eun-hye is initially appointed Ambassador to Breheim on a temporary basis to help solve a dispute between Malgrave and Breheim over fishing rights, however, the close friendship she forms with the Breheimian Minister of Fishing means that her appointment becomes more long-term.

Janina Pasternack as Shin Ji-Eun Shin Ji-Eun serves as the DHM within Breheim, and serves to introduce Eun-hye to the team and Breheimian cultural customs. Ji-Eun is known for her sharp fashion sense and comically perfect appearance. In later episodes it is revealed that Ji-Eun trained to become an mpop idol and even released a full album and a mini-album, however, the project fell apart due to an argument over the perfect animal shape for puffin/otter/penguin/kobold/shagrat bread.

In other episodes, Ji-Eun is shown to be an exceptional hiker and even talented at fishing and shooting which she accredits to her childhood in Portmon. Both make her extremely popular within Breheimian rural communities, although, many Breheimians often start off doubting her skills due to her appearance.

Larysa Pasternak as Maryla Smolak Maryla Smolak's official job title is Junior Cultural Attache to the Republic of Breheim, although, this is a cover identity designed to disguise her work to coordinate the activities of the International Operations Committee. Unfortunately, the safe nature of Breheim means that Maryla's work is non-existent and she is forced to spend most of her day helping organise tours for various mpop groups in an attempt to maintain her cover. In an attempt to spice up her work Marlya occasionally entertains wild conspiracy theories, although, a fair few of these accidentally end up being correct with humourous results.
Erik Berntsen as Martin Samuelsena Martin Samuelsen is the Breheimian Minister of Fishing. In the first episode it is explained that Breheim presently lacks a Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Martin as Minister of Fishing is the next suitable official to negotiate with. Martin is shown to be constantly frustrated by the gridlock within the Breheimian system, even as the present situation gives him untold levels of power and influence over the government he remains incapable of changing things for the better.
Aksel Pettersen as Vegard Heggem Vegard Heggem serves as the Leader of the Progressive Social Solidarity Party (PSSP) within Breheim, a fictional party which was created for the series to represent the Progressive Unity Party within Breheim. Vegard attempts to provide guidance to the Ambassador in her role, however, his expertise tends to be focused on Storvik and other cities within Breheim and he is comically inept at attempting to connect with more rural communities in Breheim.
