Dalgyre (from Irish Dealg Oighir, meaning "ice thorn") is a city in the Maltropian Islands and is the capital of the principality of Soirláchan. It has a population of more than 210,000 and is the nineteenth-most populous city in the country.
Dalgyre is located on the estuary of the Brúisc Bhán, a river which flows into an inlet of An Ladhar known as Inbhear Ingneach (the Hooked Firth). The city's port is on the western side of the headland between the river and An Ladhar, as the river itself is frozen over for much of the year. It is an important shipping facility and handles most of the freight entering the principality.
