History

Diamond Airways has a long and rich history that spans over seven decades. It was founded in 1944 by Henry Wintermoore, a visionary entrepreneur who wanted to create an airline that treated its customers well and offered uncompromising luxury, quality, comfort, and service. He named it Luxor Air Company, after the ancient Egyptian city of Luxor, and based it in ViZion City, the largest city in ViZion at the time. The airline quickly became popular among the wealthier class of people in ViZion, and soon expanded to other destinations in Astyria.

In 1963, Henry’s son Frank Wintermoore took over the reins of the company and renamed it National West Airways. He was an aggressive leader who wanted to revitalize the company’s image and growth, which had slowed down in the previous years due to competition from other airlines such as ViZionair and Imperial Airways. He launched a rebranding campaign, upgraded the aircrafts, increased the marketing efforts, and enhanced the focus on luxury. These strategies paid off, and by 1970 National West Airways was once again the country’s favored luxury airliner.

In 2011, National West Airways faced another challenge as the global financial crisis hit the airline industry hard. The company decided to undergo another rebranding and renamed itself Diamond Airways, reflecting its aspiration to be the best and most valuable airline in the world. It also expanded into the global market, offering flights to various destinations around the world. It invested in modern and upcoming technologies, such as social media connectivity and high definition entertainment systems, to attract more customers and enhance their experience.

In 2018, Diamond Airways was sold to Valkea Airlines Group. The acquisition was seen as a strategic move to increase Diamond Airways’ presence and influence in the global market, as well as to benefit from Valkea Airlines’ resources and expertise.
