Eleanor, Duchess of Giozzara (Midrasian: Aliénor, Duchesse de Giozzara), full name; Eleanor Elizabeth Maria Mathilde; born 11 February 1985, is the Head of the Royal House of Midrasia and a claimant to the Midrasian throne. The Midrasian royal family resides in exile in Ardaima.

Eleanor was the second child and only daughter of Prince Henri of Midrasia and was initially third in line to the head of the household, after her father Prince Henri and brother Napoleone. Following the death of her father in 1981 and brother in mid 2017, Eleanor became their heir apparent to the Midrasian royal house. As a result of her grandfather's subsequent death at age 95, not long after Prince Napoleone, Eleanor acceded to the head of the household on 21 July 2017.

Eleanor was privately educated at both the primary and secondary level, going on to study history at the University of Olba. In 2015 Eleanor married Robert Seine-Cornouallis, whom she met at university. The couple currently have no children.

Before becoming head of the Midrasian royal household, Eleanor had taken an active role in domestic issues, working with high profile charities to raise money for mental health, genetic disorder and cancer research. Furthermore, Eleanor has also worked with a number of organisations to alleviate issues such as climate change, poverty and social alienation.

Early life

Eleanor was born on 11 February 1985 at the Palazzo Mydrazia whilst her grandfather, Louis was head of the royal household. Eleanor was the second child of household heir Prince Henri. The Princesses godparents were Duke Henri of Piemonte and his wife Isabelle. Much of Eleanor's early life was spent with her brother Napoleone at Giozzara, however the Princess did visit a number of countries on overseas visits. Throughout her childhood Eleanor visited Newrey, Ardaima, Ajerrin and tir Lhaeraidd.

Eleanor would attend the King Almiro Alydian Primary School, an Ardaiman Private school located in Montegranaro, from the age of five; before progressing to the King Almiro Alydian Secondary School. Eleanor would move on to collegiate level education at age 16 at the same school, achieving high grades. She would gain a place at the University of Olba in 2003 studying History and Ancient History. She would graduate three years later with a 2:1. Following her graduation, Eleanor would go on to work for a number of charities as a royal ambassador, representing a number of organisations as local and national events. Through her charity work, Eleanor gained notoriety, especially her work regarding research into rare genetic diseases and mental health. Despite this, Eleanor remained relatively unknown to the wider international community and did not make an official royal visit without her father or grandfather until the funeral of the Duke of Giozzara, Matteo IV.

On 16 July 2017 heir to the household, Prince Napoleone was killed in a freak bungee jump disaster whilst on honeymoon in Almira with his wife, Amelia Princess of Veleaz. Upon receiving the news of the death of his heir, Louis was taken into hospital care due to his advanced age and concerns over his health. Louis was confirmed dead several days later, after going into cardiac arrest whilst in care.

Head of royal household

Following the death of Louis on 21 July 2017 Eleanor officially succeeded to the head of the Midrasian royal household.

Eleanor's first act as head of the household was to disavow any claims to the Midrasian throne, as has been customary for a number of pretenders to the Midrasian throne, a practice only broken by five other members of the household, including her grandfather. As head of the household, Eleanor has also been involved in a number of charitable initiatives and has been contracted to host a number of speeches and events at several former royal residences in Midrasia.

Personal life

The official residence of the royal household family is the Palazzo Mydrazia near Giozzara, though the family also owns a number of other villas throughout the Duchy of Giozzara. The royal household also continues to hold claim to the Palace of Roixs in Roixs, Belvedere Palace in Lotrič, and the Auburn Palace in Riviera; all of which are in Midrasia.

Eleanor is described as a keen writer and was known to spend many hours away creating works of both fiction and non-fiction. She is believed to have completed a full amateur study on the history of Midrasian wines since the year 1200. A number of publishers have expressed interest in making the material open to the public. Eleanor is also believed to have created a number of fictional short-stories from her time as a Princess. The contents of such work are unknown, though a number have allegedly been shared with international dignitaries and visiting royalty.

Eleanor is passionate about the environment which has taken up a sizeable portion of her charitable work. She is believed to take regular walks across the countryside of Roixs and has been known to take regular hiking and nature walking holidays across the country and overseas. Eleanor is also an avid horse rider and has been since she was a young girl. As a Princess, Eleanor had taken part in a number of national equestrian competitions, even winning first prize in the national championships in 2007. It had been rumoured that the Princess could represent Ardaima on the international stage at the Summer Games, however this never came to fruition.
