Kingdom of Solarius

Founded in 98BGD, by a chieftain called Daron Kilo, it was established as a coalition between different tribes as a unified entity. The Kingdom consisted of the island of Faesol & Daegol. The Monarch belong to the House of Kilo, which reigned for over 150 years. It was during the Fae-Sol War of 195GD, that the Kingdom of Faelo would be defeated. Even 2,000 years later, the Faelin identity is still strong with the people of the island of Faesol, and their ancient customs are still practiced and their language thrives on the island.

Environment

History

Ancient times

The Islands of Faesol & Daegol where inhabited by 25,000BGD, by the Kiji Tribe and the Raui Tribe from the Continent of Pelia. There was another human race called the Brevis Homines that were native to the islands. The natives and the Homo-Saipan had crossed breed and people on those island had a rare genetic code that is only found on that island. These people were hunter-gathers tribes and had hunted Elno Chicken & Moo Cows. The people of Faesol had been excellent craftsmen & had worked on one of the most richest Pottery in all of Pelia. The Tribe of Daegol had been great at archery and were skilled archers and were recruited by Solarius and other nations around Pelia.

The Founding of Faelo

During the Alis War of 100BGD, the tribe of Kiji went to war against a tribe called Dalo. The Kiji was losing, after losing the village of Danmo, and that the Chieftain Ido Aba was slayed during the Battle of Aqui. The new Chieftain, Daron Kilo of Kiji, had been elected and chosen to fight against the Dalo and fight for victory. However, Daron knew he couldn't fight them alone, and for the first time, formed an alliance with the Raui tribe. Their leader, Chief Anoyu Gaga, also didn't like the Dalo, and accepted the alliance to defeat them. So during the Battle of Okiolo, the tribes of Kiji & Raui fought against the might of the Dalo, with a causality rate of 5,000 Daloian to only 500 Kiji-Raui alliance. This marked the turning point of the war, and not to long, after the last Battle of Uie, Chief Guri Handa of Dalo was captured and forced to give up his tribe between Kiji & Raui. After the Treaty of Gabo in 99BGD, the Chieftains Daron Kilo & Anoyu Gaga had seen that they worked good together and agreed to merge their two tribes into the Faelo Kingdom. Daron was crowned Hiegja Rí or High King in 98BGD as Daron I during a ceremony. Raui's chieftain was named Hieja Banríon or High Queen. They reigned for 20 years from 98BGD to 78BGD.

The Kingdom of Faelo

During the reign of Daron I, Faelo rose to prominence in the Celestial Islands Region, and had been traders in the island chain. Trading with the nations of Kingdom of Zōsenia, Equila Republic, the tribes of Solvis, and Motuasima Confederacy. They had traded with these people for half a century. It was until the last decade of BGD, was when the island of Sol was conquered by a new power in the region called Solarius. Before Solarius rise, Faelo was the dominant power in the region. Wealth flowed into the city of Fais and to the people of the island. The Faelins had been great ship explorers, trading into the mythical continent of Iacrix. There was a trade agreement between Faelo & Zōsenia, splitting the sea into their respective spheres of influence for trade domains. This was called the Direach Line which would be split through the archipelago of Solvis.

Even though the Faelo Kingdom had traded with all of these civilizations, other nations began to want to trade outside and/or across the Direach Line. the Equila Republic went to war with Faelo to break free from the controlling trade treaty of Irox, which made Equila only trade with the nations west of the Direach Line. The Oars War broke out in 39BGD and ended in 19BGD. This was a devastating lost of Faelo, and their naval supremacy waned in the later half-century.

The Fae-Sol Wars

First Fae-Sol War In 32GD, Solus III wanted to conquer the island of Daegol. He sent an offer to King Daemon II to purchase the island. Daemon refused and instead, decapitated the envoys and sent their heads back to Solus. Outraged and seeing it a sign of dominance, Solus raised a legion to sail to Daegol and take it by force. The Legion XIII Faelo set sail to Daegol on July 12, 32GD, and arrived at the island on July 27th, 32GD. When the Legion arrived to the shore, catapults launched boulders at the ships, destroying 5 ships and killing 100 soldiers, starting the First Fae-Sol War. After the Legion captured the Dol Fort on the coast of Daegol, they marched to the town of Sariard, a fortified town on the hill of Buchbannog. During the Siege of Sariard, the fort commander Alasdair Byrne, held off the Legionaries climbing the walls, killing them with his war axe. By the end of the battle, Alasdair killed 1,000 men, but was wounded by an arrow. The Legion took Sariard, and marched to the regional capital of Daegol, Caeridal, but was meet by a small Faelin army to stop their advancement at the village of Llanuchdur. The battle of Llanuchdur was very one sided, however, after the successful Cavalry Charge, the Vailen Cohort crumbled, leading to the Solarian Commander to bring out the cavalry to defend the line. After a brutal 13 hour battle, the Solarian forces successfully won, but with heavy losses. The original 7,000 legionaries, now only 3,000 remained. Secundus, even though was recommended to retreat, marched onto Caeridal. On September 1st, 32GD, the Legion XIII Faelo arrived to Caeridal, and begun the siege. After 32 hours of sieging Caeridal, the Legion retreated after suffering heavy losses. It would be a stalemate for the duration of the war, ending in a white peace on 31 GD.

Second Fae-Sol War In 78GD, Valxius I had wanted to destroy the Faelo Navy to become the Superior Naval Force in the region to control trade. Valxius order the building of the navy to prepare for war against Faelo. In 79GD, Valxius I declared war on the Faelo Kingdom to take Daegol from them, this marked the Second Fae-Sol War(79-81 GD). On 4 November, 79GD, The old legion of Legion XIII Faelo was sent again to the island, this time, they sustained very low casualties to the landing on the shore of Daegol due to a heavy fog. This led to no one knowing an invasion was happening until the Legion arrived in Sigler, Daegol. The garrison of Sigler alerted the nearby towns of the legion. On December 5th, 79GD, the Battle of Sigler was a decisive but costly victory for Solarius. It lasted from December 5th-December 12th and was the bloodiest battle and lost of life for a nation. With 3% of the Kingdom of Faelo population being killed or injured in the battle. For another 6 months, the Legion captured forts in Daegol, and finally, on March 17, 80GD, they arrived at Caeridal. After the Siege of Caeridal, the Solarian Legion broke through the defenses and captured the governor of Daegol. Soon after, the Legion captured the whole Island of Daegol, with the Solarian Commander, Victix Lais, sending a letter to Queen Ussalua I to demand surrender of the island. It was when Ussalua sent an army to Daegol to retrive the Hawk Banner of Daegol, the 12th Faelo Army under Faelin Commander, Machar Duanei met the Legion XIII Faelo at the small village of Tranint on May 18. The Battle of Tranint was a bloody battle, with both sides suffering heavy loses. At the end of the battle, Lais ordered a retreat at night, and regroup for a final push. During the battle, the Hawk Banner fell back into Faelin hands. On June 2, The Legion marched back to Tranint to face the 12th Faelo Army. At the Second Battle of Tranint, the 12th Army suffered heavy loses due to a successful cavalry charge that broke the Faelin line, which was then exploited by the 4th "Mairus" Cohort. When the Legion destroyed the 12th Army, they failed to retrieve the Hawk Banner, as it was long gone. During this time, Faelin ships blocaded Daegol to strave out the Solarian Army, and the blockadge lasted from June 5 80-February 16 81. During this time, the Solarian legion was stuck and were starving, resulting in eating their own horses. It was only after the Second Battle of Siras, did Solarian ships break the blockade. After the failed recapture of Daegol and the blockade being broken, Queen Ussalua I agreed to sign the treaty to handover Daegol to Solarius. The Treaty of Tranint marked the end of the War.

Inter-War Period During the Interwar Period, the successful Faelin Diplomat, Cormac Walsh, pressured the Solarian King to give up Daegol in exchange for tribute by Faelo. Although, during the negotiations, the Daegol people rose up in revolt in 88GD to overthrow the Solarian occupation. This resulted in a breaking in negotiations and Cormac came back defeated to the Queen, who had actually funded the Daegol uprising without telling Cormac. This would not be known to anyone until the annexation of Faelo. The Daegolian Uprising was a bloody revolt, killing thousands of people. All Solarian settlers were massacred and any Daegolian collaborators with Solarius were tared and feathered.

Government

Ruled by the King, the government was an absolute Monarchy. However, the Judicial System was separate from the power of the king. The Grand Judge, a title held by people with merit, not relation, was open to anyone of any class. The Power of the Monarchy was only upheld by the Grand Judge. If the Grand Judge deemed on of the King's laws tyrannical, they would be vetoed by the Judge.

So, there are only two branches in the government, the Alkabir(The Judicial) & the Tanfidhi(The Executive). The King had also had power to force the Grand Judge to step down, however, it had to be with great evidence that the Judge had used their powers for granted and to enrich themselves. The Grand Judges are as sacred to the people as the King is. So, if there was no evidence for the Judge's crimes, then a tribunal would be set up to convict the King of threatening the stability of the state.

Foreign Relations

During Daron I reign, Faelo sent diplomats the Motuasima & the Zōsenia to establish trade and diplomatic relations within the Celestial Island Chain. For a time, relations were peaceful and only pirates from the Iacrix continent were causing trouble. It wasn't until Daemon I that relations became more formalized with Zōsenia and Motuasima. The three leaders of the countries met in town of Direachi in Zōsenia. This meeting would become the foundation of the Direach Line, a informal seperation of spheres of influence between Faelo and Zōsenia. The west of the Direach Line was of Faelin influence. The east of the Direach Line was of Zōseniako influence.
