The Fjalmatt, or the Fjalmåtelv, is a major Alliaronian river, and the longest in the country. Its drainage basin spans most of western Alliaronia, up to the Æstfolzea metropolitan area. The river runs from the Zuensee in Kådskørk, flowing to a curving eastern course, and ends in Görsolelb at the Welfenzsee.
Geography
Source and upstream flow
The Fjalmatt begins in the Zuensee in Kådskørk. Upstream, the Fjalmatt is known as the Ölfett River, and flows into a curb eastward, forming the regional border of Zuenseelt and Vulkanstaat. It forms the tripoint border with Ölfett in Kattegild, and continues to curb eastward once more, entering Halfödtneiss in Skörge-Janessen. The Ölfett portion flows down south and curbs eastward once more.
Downstream flow
The river stops being called the Ölfett at its entry in Långeselv in Sielmettelv and becomes the Fjalmatt, and where the downstream flow begins. There, it takes a curb southward, entering the major city of Gnävengerstad. The Port of Gnävengerstad is the major port in the area, and the largest inland port in the entire country. It then exits Sielmettelv in Køppershafn and briefly enters Nyghemett, then into Zermaüssenfielde, and zig-zagging between the two regions.
The river makes up portions of the Nyghemett-Zermaüssenfielde border and enters Rhesnett, carving the Rhesnett Hills in its wake. It briefly enters Abiendtfielde, but makes an easterly flow to Vorstermagdt.
