The Federation of Gabeonia is a Democratic Socialist nation situated on the atlantic ocean, above the equator, with ocean on the eastern side of the nation. Gabeonia is known for arms manufacturing & exporting.

History

Past History

In 1532 A.D. explorers settled the area of Middleton. At the time it was named Middle Town as the explorers expexted to go further west for exploration but for unkown reasons they didn't. The settlers had great relations with the natives until 1755 when the settlers attacked and killed all natives out of revenge for alleged crop stealing that has never been verified. Gabeonia started as a capitalist nation and remained there for over 400 years until recent history.

Recent History

In recent history Gabeonia has opened up to foreign affairs in 2000 and opened to expedited industrialization in 2003. Gabeonia is a military powerhouse with over 12 million active duty soldiers across all branches. It is speculated that Gabeonia buys western military equipment and copies it with extreme precision however this has never been proven. Since 1999 and until January of 2024 Gabeonia's president has been Kaleb Nightwall, a well-liked figure that brought Gabeonia into the modern era and in the eyes of the people, made the country great. In January of 2024 Kaleb Nightwall was slowly assasinated by one of his security personnel.

Geography

In the west Gabeonia is made up of mostly temperate forest with lakes, ponds, and rivers dotting the landscape with mountains and hills in areas. North is made up of cold forest with frozen lakes and mountains if you go north enough. South is warm forest with tropical lake areas. East is temperate/mild tropic with the ocean.

Demographics

Major majority of Gabeonia is comprised of "Native Gabeonians". These Gabeonians are not the real natives however they are considered natives because of the amount of children settlers had with the original natives. The rest of the demographics consists of (in order of greatest to least prevalent) African-Gabeonian, Arab-Gabeonian, and Indo-Gabeonian.

Population

Gabeonia has a population of over 1.2 billion. 74% of people live in urban/suburban areas while the remaining 26% live in rural areas/towns. The difference between urban and rural areas is very noticeable however the standard of living is high in both areas.

Religion

The official religion of Gabeonia is Pastafarianism. The national religion has no effect on legislation and most of the population does not follow any religion. An estimated 92% of Gabeonians identify as athiest/non-churchgoing.

Culture

Gabeonian culture is influenced by both United States & European cultures. Gabeonia has prohibition of alcohol and has banned smoking. Gabeonian citizens are allowed and encouraged to own firearms provided they have completed proper training and have the proper license.

Politics

The Government of The Federation of Gabeonia is comprised of the National Parliamentary Assembly, commonly reffered to as the National Assembly. There are 124 districts and each district has one representative. The NA votes on national issues before moving them along to the Office of The Presidency.

International Relations

Gabeonia is a member of the Collective Security League as of May 20th, 2023. Overall the foreign policy can be said to Interventionist.

Military

Gabeonia has a large military with over 12 million active personnel across all branches. In March of 2023, Gabeonia switched from outdated Soviet equipment to more modern Western equipment. In reserve Gabeonia has an additonal 2.4 million personnel.^[2]

Economy

Gabeonia's economy is heavily supported by the Arms Manufacturing industry with help from Information Technology and Tourism.^[1]

Roadways

Gabeonian roadways have a history of safety issues. According to a 2018 study by the Gabeonian Department of Transportation, 52% of crashes were caused by non-weather related road conditions and 37% of crash deaths were a result of outdated and unsafe roadside safety devices. In late April 2023, The Gabeonian Department of Transportation introduced a new project to upgrade roadways with high quality asphalt, patches, concrete, and with new MASH rated safety devices.

Trains

Gabeonia has a modern railway network for carrying passengers and cargo. Passenger trains have priority over freight and Gabeonian passenger trains are considered some of the most comfortable in the world.

Political Assasinations

Kaleb Nightwall

On January 12th, 2024 former president Kaleb Nightwall collapsed in the east hallway of the Presidential Residence while walking to meet with top Gabeonian ministers. This came after earlier in the morning he complained that his drink tasted odd, he drank it anyway.^[4]

On January 13th he fell into a coma and doctors at Middleton University Hospital stated that he had suffered a traumatic brain injury from hitting his head while unconsious the day before. The same day the National Assembly placed Prime Minister Joeseph Jordan in temporary power.^[5]

Kaleb Nightwall died on the evening of January 15th, 2024 at Middleton University Hospital. The coroners report labeled the death a homicide due to a lethal amount of chloroform being found in his body.^[6]

Arrest of Dimyan Turner

On January 18th, 2024 the Gabeonian National Police arrested Special Guardsman Dimyan Turner for the murder of President Kaleb Nightwall. The National Police and Ministry of Justice used a Cellebrite device to search his mobile phone and found deleted search inquiries for how to buy, manufacture, and slip choloform into a drink. Upon searching his house they found propaganda posters from the defunct "NightOut" terrorist group and multiple bottles of chloroform hidden away. He was chagred with treason, assassination of the President, intentional poisoning, tampering with a medical device or procedure, failure to protect the President, attempted assassination of the President, and abuse of authority. ^[7]

His trial took place on January 21st and the National Prosecutor Marsha Woolsworth requested the death penalty. After reading out the charges Dimyan pleaded guilty and was sentenced to death by telvised hanging. On January 22nd, 2024 Dimyan Turner was hanged^[8] with an estimated viewership of 673,211,102 Gabeonians watching on TV.

Energy

The Federation of Gabeonia creates all of its own energy. Energy in Gabeonia is currently produced by a mix of coal, gas, and nuclear power. On December 11, 2023 President Kaleb Nightwall announced a five-year plan to phase out fossil fuel power generation.^[3] The plan included gradual shutdowns of coal & gas power plants and the construction of three new nuclear power plants with one being scheduled for completed construction in January 2024.^[3]
