German Sitnikov is a Venadian businessman and philantropist, who contested the 2015 presidential election on a politically centrist platform, where obtained 17.6% of the vote in the first round and became the third most popular candidate overall. Sitnikov is known as a prominent Venadian media, technology and property mogul, and is among the ten richest men in the country. Sitnikov made his fortune in the tech boom of the 1990s, and invested in emergent media and property.


Presidential campaign

Sitnikov declared his intent to run for the 2015 Venadian presidential election in August 2013, and managed to gather the required amount of signatures by December. Sitnikov's campaign was largely self-funded, and was notable for the high focus on social media and emergent media. Sitnikov's overally platform was centrist, with a focus on privacy rights, support of small business, taxation reform (such as abolishing the VAT in favour of increased taxes on capital gains and personal income), anti-militarism, free trade, anti-censorship and expansion of Venadian telecommunications. Sitnikov managed to attain a significant amount of attention, and was the most popular presidential candidate among those younger than 30. Sitnikov became the most popular candidate in Viniyagorod, Koni Volost, Liga Volost and Venagorod.

Sitnikov did well in debates, and was considered a superior debater to Liberal candidate Pavel Pushkin.
