The Goredemabwan National Army are the land forces of the Goredemabwan Defence Force.

History

Establishment of the Goredemabwan Army and fate of the Belfrasian Army with the decline of the Belfrasian empire, the administration of the Colonial Armed Forces was passed to the newly created Myrdesian Army.

Goredemabwan People's Army

After change in government the new people's army was established. This led to a great boost in spending and development of the army.

Modern National Army

The fall of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Anikatia led to a severe decline in the People's Army and later partially led to dissolution of the People's Socialist Republic of Goredemabwa. Defense expenditures were severely reduced. Much of the equipment and vehicles were scrapped or put into reserve storage at bases.

Organisation

Regular Army and Republican Guard

A GNA Motor Rifle Brigade
A GNA Tank Brigade

The Regular forces of the GNA are a mechanised, mobile force, forming the professional core of Goredemabwa's armed forces.

Under the guidance of Anikatian and Arthuristan advisors, the modern Goredemabwan Ground Force has been re-structured from its communist-era division-centric force into a more nimble and flexible brigade-centric force, capable of taking advantage of modern communications and force-control technology. Motor rifle and tank brigades form the core formations of the army. Each is a stand-alone combined arms force of mechanised infantry, tanks and artillery, with combat support and sustainment elements in significantly higher proportions than old-style motor rifle and tank regiments, allowing them to operate autonomously as independent combat teams, possessing much greater flexibility and reaction speed than under the old TO&E. A motor rifle brigade has three motor rifle battalions (one mounted in tracked-IFVs, the other two in wheeled-APCs) and one tank battalion, whereas the ratio is reversed in tank brigades (all infantry in tank brigades are tracked). A motor rifle brigade possesses some 4,500 troops and forty tanks, whereas a tank brigade has some 4,000 personnel and more than 100 tanks (a tank battalion attached to a motor rifle brigade has one extra company of ten vehicles).

Aside from these heavy forces, the GNA also deploys air assault brigades (one BMD and two light battalions plus support elements), heavy artillery brigades (2x MRD-30 battalions, 2x towed 152mm gun battalions and 1x TORK-2 battery), area-defence SAM brigades (SA-11 Byuk), engineering brigades and force support brigades.

There are currently three tank brigades, twelve motor rifle brigades, three air assault brigades, six heavy artillery brigades, three engineering brigades and three force support brigades in the BNA's order of battle. They are evenly divided between three army corps', each disposing of roughly 40,000 personnel. The forces of I Corps are designated 'Republican Guard' formations, commanded by the most politically reliable elements of the officer corps and receive preferential treatment in pay. They are better trained than most regular personnel and are equipped with the best armaments available.

Goredemabwan National Guard

The Goredemabwan National Guard consists of a mixture of conscripts and reservists, intended to be mobilised en masse in the event of full scale conflict with a neighbouring country. Essentially static or motorised infantry, territorially-based around a municipal area, the basic unit is a brigade of roughly 3,000 personnel, organised into three rifle battalions (each of three rifle companies and an heavy weapon company with ATGM platoon, AGL platoon and mortar platoon), an artillery battalion (3x 122mm or 152mm towed battery and a GRAD battery), an AA company (23mm towed and MANPAD), an engineering company and a force support company. Some 60 brigades may theoretically be mobilised to support the mechanised field forces of the regular army.
