The Great Zhi Emperor is the traditional ruler of the Great Zhi Empire over thousands of years, notionally with absolute temporal and secular authority.Following the Tongzhu proclaimation, the styles of the Weishun Great Master and the acceptance of Zheng customs, the Emperor was enshrined as a living god. The true power of the Emperor was restrained by practicalities of their domain, his own bureaucracy, aristocracy and sheer sprawling size of the Empire.
Origin
During the Juwarin Period, the ruler of Weishun territories was traditionally the Great Master, who communed with heaven to recieve instructions from the divine, though held no temporal power. Instead, local rulers, such as Kings, Bahans, and lords held worldly power, taken through right of conquest, feud and human sacrifice. The Great Masters' personal names were never recorded, instead their sage names were given in literature. The Great Master's most important function in tribal politics was to call for campaigns, massive wars of prestige and human sacrifice to enrich the heavens.This system was promulgated by strong, flourishing agriculture, as well as an enterprising raiding system with strong social mobility for the Weishun. Following the Grand Purple Campaign, the Great Master declared that the heavens had been satsified, and that now all peoples of the Empire would be incorporated. The Zheng dominated government announced that the Great Master would be venerated as Huangzhu, or Emperor of the Great Zhi.
