Green Ant Esports is an esports team for the video game Avatar, playing in the Brown Sea League since its founding in 2022. It is based in Bazadavo, Dezevau. In its inaugural season in 2022, it placed second, and it won the Brown Sea League in 2023, taking the region's berth to the 2023 Avatar World Championship where it is currently playing.

History

Founding

Green Ant Esports was founded as a joint venture between a number of interested parties, including current and former esports athletes, and the Bazadavo District Government. There was an interest in creating an esports team which would fill the gap in representation for Bazadavo, capital of Dezevau and third largest city. At the same time, there was a hope that by creating a new roster filed with veterans and promising rookies, the team might find international competitive success where older, more dispersed rosters in the Dezevauni scene had not since 2020.

2022

The team was founded in time to play in the 2022 season of the Brown Sea League, playing in some of the qualifiers but also negotiating some exemptions owing to its storied roster and strong performances in said qualifiers. In the middle of the year, it brought in Mamhe "oignon" Nhidomou as its new mid laner. It came second in that season, barely missing out on a berth to the 2022 Avatar World Championship, as the Brown Sea region had been reduced to having only one spot after the 2021 Avatar World Championship. As it was the Red Crane of Lavana who won that season, it was notably the first time a Dezevauni team was not present at the Avatar World Championship, which was the cause of fan dismay. However, it was still impressive and a first that a newly founded team came second in the region.

2023

The Green Ants brought in Zuadui "Death" Jagaozadhe to replace 2468 as bot roamer for the 2023 season, a move seen as bold given Death had only played one season in that role after swapping. However, the team was dominant throughout the 2023 season in the Brown Sea, eventually coming first. They qualified to the 2023 Avatar World Championship as a result.
