Medieval illustration of Hanneberg, labelled as Anaberga, from the Codex Urbanorum Locorum

Hanneberg (Latin: Anaberga) was a city-state in eastern Telseris. Situated between Laodicea and Letara on the south bank of the Langewasar, it was an important trading centre at its height in the eleventh century. In addition to prospering on river trade, Hanneberg produced substantial wealth of its own from the export of madder and other dyes. The city's governing council was composed of men from its leading merchant families.

The city's wealth and location made Hanneberg often the envy of its more powerful neighbours, and even its smaller rivals, such as Calis and Temai, were known to raise mercenary armies against it. In spite of its modest military, defensible position and keep, Hanneberg was looted repeatedly; notably in 790, 813, 885 and 944. The city's plutocrats greatly extended its citadel between 1011 and 1024, moving their households inside the keep.
