Hayren Migration
The Hayren Migration (Hayren: Մեծ միգրացիա Mets migrats’ia or Great Migration) was the masss movement of ethnic Hayren people from south-west Siduri into southern Syara and Ruvelka in the 5th Century CE. Between 150,000-250,000 Hayren migrated into lands held by the Makedonian Empire between 457-460, settling in modern day Hayreniky and near the Ruvelkan city of Aszód. They formed the Hayren communities still present in both nations, numbering over 36 million.
The proto-Hayren people had settled along south-west Siduri after splitting off from the rest of the Erani-Eracurans sometime between the 4th and 3rd Millennia BCE, and by the 1st Century CE constituted a significant population in Nalaya. The Hayren people had significant interactions with the Sardaranian Empire, Chalna Empire, and the Liezue confederation. By the 5th Century CE however the collapse of the Hannashka Empire and subsequent destabilization of Khaltia had disrupted the local economic and political environment, leading to famine and the outbreak of violence between the petty Khaltian kingdoms. Competition between the various states and the already splintered Hayren tribes led to widespread fighting and disruption to trade, further crippling the carry capacity of the region.
In 455 CE Alexarchus, King of the Makedonian Empire, moved into the region to stabilize the Empire's borders south of Mansuriyyah. Over the course of three years the Makedonians succeeded in subjugating several local powers and re-established a stronger Makedonian presence along their borders. During the campaign the Makedonians engaged several Hayren tribes in battle, while also at times employing Hayren mercinaries against the remnants of the Liezue peoples. The outbreak of a rebellion by the Bosrei drove Makedonian attention towards Eracura, but prior to departure Gosdantia, Chieftain of the Armavir, attempted to negotiate a treaty between Makedon and the Hayren. Initially seeking an alliance, Alexarchus offered instead to relocate the Hayren to southern Syara and Ruvelka, which had been depopulated in the aftermath of the Zobethos Civil War. In exchange the Hayren would agree to swear loyalty to the Makedonian throne as well as convert to Zobethos.
Approximately 150,000 Hayren agreed to migrate north into Makedonian lands, though its possible the number reached as high as 250,000. Most Hayren settled along the Matra Mountains and Syara south of Galania. The migration formed the core of a Hayren populace that is still present in both Syara and Ruvelka. The Hayren themselves would eventually form one of the four Realms of Syara and become major proponents of the Zobethos faith in Syara. Syaran Hayren often celebtrate Gosdantia and Alexarchus as historical heroic figures and commemorate the event with celebrations on 17 May.
