Background

With the end of the world war, the Hyeogmyeong nation was split in two between the North and South by the Communist forces and Authoritarian Capitalist forces respectively. Tension had been brewing due to different ideologies and cut relations soon after forming each other's governments, each of them claiming to be the real Hyeogmyeong and its successor state. The North believing that no one would stop them in their re-conquest of the south due to their supposedly "legitimate" claims to "liberate" the people of the south from their grip on power, caused them to begin rapidly militarising with heavy equipment and subsidized support from Beleroskov and Yuan and slowly build back up their once amazing navy that got destroyed by the Zamastans. Soon, the right situation was set as a skirmish by naval marines off the coast of the Gunshi Islands, giving them the even better excuse to protect themselves and would declare war on June 25th, 1959.
