In 1954, she was chosen by Imre Nagy to lead the uprising in Emberek due to her keene attitude as well as impressive marksman ability. She was also a radio operator throughout the city, spreading the uprising on popular radio shows to get more support for the movement.

After the war she was forced into joining the Lyonheimer Womans Division of the army, which she did not enjoy at all, leaving in 1959. However she was awarded a HSA by Imre Nagy after the war.
