The Imperial Government of the Empire of Belhavia is the central government of the imperial union of twenty-five provinces that constitute the nation-state of Belhavia, as well as ten territories. The central government is composed of three distinct branches: legislative, executive, and judicial, whose powers are vested by the Imperial Constitution in the Imperial Senate, His Majesty the Emperor, the President of Belhavia, and the Imperial Judiciary, including the Imperial Supreme Court, respectively. The powers and duties of these branches are further defined by acts of the Senate, including the creation of executive departments and courts inferior to the Supreme Court.
The full name of the Empire is "The Empire of Belhavia." No other name appears in the Imperial Constitution, and this is the name that appears on money, in treaties, and in legal cases to which it is a party (e.g., Rothson v. The Empire of Belhavia). The terms "Imperial Government" or "Imperial Government of Belhavia" are often used in official documents to represent the central government as distinct from the provinces collectively. In casual conversation or writing, the term "Imperial Government" is often used, and the term "National Government" is sometimes used alternatively. The terms "Imperial" and "National" in government agency or program names generally indicate affiliation with the central government (e.g., Imperial Ministry of War, Office of National Defense Coordination, etc.). Because the seat of government is in Provisa, "Provisa" is commonly used as a metonym for the Imperial government.
Currently, the Imperial Government is lead by the Goldman Administration.
