Insai was an Ethlorek city-state in east-central Trellin. It was established in 545 around the town of Insai, near the Flotir and the city-state of Asketon. It enjoyed independence for some time as a rival of Asketon, but in the late seventh and early eighth century it was pulled into the sphere of influence of the Kingdom of the Pedallen. After the Anarchy of the 800s it again won its independence and thrived on trade along the Flotir. By the tenth century it had aligned itself to the Barony of Fymona and so avoided annexation by a nascent Asketonian power. After Fymona conquered Asketon in the mid-twelfth century, Insai's marquises were not rewarded as they had expected and they allied with the Grand Duchy of Ja'ekha. The city-state flourished in the thirteenth century and was one of the most influential vassals in northern Ja'ekha. Insai ultimately was integrated into Ja'ekha in 1440.
