The Isildurain are a group originating from The Veiled Isle in the southeast of Mystria.
Name
Isildurian is an abbreviation of the Keld Neterlingua phrase "Isenil Dur Raigne" or "Children of Raigne". Raigne being a mythic figure from Keldon folklore, who acted as a bridge between the native Keldons and the Nebbarath that put a stop to the extermination of the Keldons. Likewise, the Isildurian are a proverbial gap between the two peoples, being the result of centuries of intermarriage and interbreeding between the two.
Distribution
Isildurain are almost exclusively encountered in their homeland of the Veiled Isle. However, a goodly number of young and attractive Isildurain persons have moved into the wider Commonwealth, having been offered careers in the Commonwealth's fashion industry or similar industries. Likewise a number of Isildurain have moved onto the mainland for mostly economic reasons.
Physical Characteristics
The Isildurain are inherently a mixed group, being the result of interbreeding. The average Isildurain man stands roughly 1.73m, and the average woman 1.63m. The average woman weighs 63.50kg while the average man weighs 72.57kg. Isildurain tend to have a wide range of skin tones, from the a lighter olive tone recessive to their Nebbarath forebears to the dark browns common among Keldons. Isildurain are commonly dark haired and brown eyed. It is not uncommon for Isildurain to have Aquiline noses like the Nebbarath but nor is it a dominant trait.
Culture
Isildurain come from a small, densely populated island, and their culture reflects that, making the Isildurain a far more collectivist people than one would expect... after a fashion. This collectivist tendency is both tempered and enhanced with a sense of ferocious nationalism garnered through isolation, and the constant threat of unbidden attack. Isildurain are as a result caring for their own, and those who can be considered trustworthy. However, the Isildurain can often be quite paranoid as a collective and especially when dealing with those who aren't human.
Language
Isildurain almost exclusively speak Neterlingua as their native language. Of these, the vast majority speak the "Keld" dialect native to the Veiled Isle. Some Isildurain, particularly those that fashion themselves as Nebbarath will speak traditional Neterlingua. Some Isildurain speak Keldon, and a small handful speak Vorluun, the language of the Veiled Isle's Beastling's, the Vorlonii.
Religion
Most Isildurain practice a specific form of Serionism, the Church of Ecclesiates of Serion. Others practice more mainstream Serionism instead. Many, particularly those that are more closely associated with the Keldon peoples practice Mystrian Pandeism, and extraordinarily rarely, Forntianism.
