John Arthur Matlock is a Frankenlischian football pundit and former professional footballer who played primarily as an attacking midfielder for Crown League club Royal Barbican, playing 481 games for the club in a 13-year stay. He also played professionally for Richmond Rangers and Frankenlisch Riverside, ending his career in 2012 at the age of 35. Matlock holds the record for most National Cup appearances for Royal Barbican with 78.

Matlock began his career in the Frankenlisch Riverside academy in 1989 at the age of 12. He did not stay with the Rivermen, moving to Royal Barbican in 1992 where he made his professional debut in 1995. A regular appearance in Jim Fowler's Barbican team, Matlock played mainly as an attacking midfielder, but occasionally played as a winger or a supporting forward. His honours with Barbican total five National Cups, two Imperial Cups, three Grand Cups, two King Richard's Shields and two league titles. This makes Matlock Royal Barbican's second-highest decorated player in number of trophies, behind only Frederick Amundsen. This also makes Matlock the player with the most National Cup wins.

After leaving Royal Barbican at the end of the 2007-08 season, Matlock moved to National League club Richmond Rangers where he made 42 appearances over 2 seasons. Matlock ended his playing career with Frankenlisch Riverside, where he had been an academy player as a child. Playing two full seasons for the club, he helped Riverside win the National League play-offs in 2012 and acheive promotion to the Crown League.

Matlock's international career is similarly prestigious. After playing ten games at youth level for the Kingdom of Frankenlisch, his first senior appearance came in 1996 for a friendly against Imperial Ceasia which ended 1-1. Matlock remained on the peripheries of the team for several years and only became a regular starter when Andrew Adams retired from playing in 1999. After cementing his place in the national squad during the 2000 CIFA International Cup win, Matlock went on to appear in four further tournaments for Frankenlisch. During his playing career for the Kingdom of Frankenlisch, Matlock won the CIFA International Cup in 2000 and the Vionna-Frankenlisch Regional Cup in 2006.

Youth Career

After playing with various youth clubs in the Borough of Redwater, Matlock was poached by VFL First Division club Frankenlisch Riverside and joined their academy system in 1989 when he was 12. He captained the Riverside team at U14, U15, and U16 level before leaving the club in 1992 to join the academy of Crown League grandees Royal Barbican.
