The Revolutionary Co-Defense Agency (Namorese: Комин Гонгвеи Банджу), better known by its syllabic abbreviation KGB (Komin Gongvei Banju) is the national intelligence agency of Namor.
History
The KGB was established by Acting President-General Gelai Antelope in NMR 2316. Its predecessor, the People's Security Committee (MAH), had been dissolved due to its ties with the administration of Kiang Ssxu that was ousted in the NMR 2315 Namorese political crisis.
Compared with the MAH, which played a pivotal role in arresting suspected counter-revolutionaries, the KGB has been less draconian, focusing more on law enforcement than on protecting the state. While the MAH was closely affiliated with the Liberationist Party's Control Sector, the KGB is completely independent from any party.
Under the Kong Jo and Su Shui administrations, the KGB was divided into two divisions: the Domestic Operations Committee (KGB-NSH) and Non-Domestic Operations Committee (KGB-FNSH), signaling the start of the agency's role as a foreign intelligence agency.
Structure
The KGB consists of two committees, each with a different task:
- The Domestic Operations Committee (KGB-NSH, Гукнеи Синдонг Веянхои) is responsible for executing the KGB's domestic operations.
- The Non-Domestic Operations Committee (KGB-FNSH, Фегукнеи Синдонг Веянхои) is responsible for operations abroad. The KGB-FNSH has allegedly been engaged in industrial espionage against other countries. It has also been accused of implanting operatives among Namorese living abroad, particularly Namorese exchange students and ethnic Namorese businesses operating overseas.
Both committees report to the Director of the KGB, who in turn reports to the Ministry of Defense. Template:National intelligence agencies
