Kazar Island (Farokandi: Kazarkaz) is an island in the Farokandi Archipelago in Farokand. It is bordered by the Pundanni Sea to the north and the Dulmara Ocean to the south. With a population of 111,147,766, Kazar Island is the most populous island in the world. 41% of the population of Farokand lives on Kazar Island. Farokand's most populous city and one of its two capital cities, Faroi, is also located on the island.

Kazar Island, much like the rest of the Farokandi Archipelago, possesses ideal agricultural conditions for human settlement, as well as the prime geographic location for international trade, leading to its early and continued population growth. Initially populated by the Borfusans, the Malthasvars migrated to the island in the 4th century BCE, replacing them. From there, many Malthasvarian kingdoms were established, many of which had bustling trade economies. Eventually, the island was united by the Kingdom of Faroi, which later unified with the Kingdom of Kandi to form Farokand. Administratively, Kazar Island is divided into five Farokandi federal republics: Faroi, Ardil, Murokar, Kilaristan, and Nursaim.

Kazar Island was formed during the breakoff of Dulmara from the supercontinent Magnaea. Originally fused with Ülsomm Fara and Borfusa, eventually it broke off and became its current form. Many parts of western Kazar Island were partially formed by volcanic activity as well, particularly Faroi region. Around 22 million years ago, the area of Kazar Island was hit by a meteorite, creating the crater the island is named after. This crater is still present today, located in the region of Pirvania.

Etymology

The etymology for the word Kazar is uncertain. Originally, etymologists thought that the term was simply taken from the Faroian word for "crater", kazari. However, evidence was discovered suggesting that kazari derived from Kazar. Now, it is believed that the name comes from the Paleo-Malthasvarian word kaizár, for "hole" or "depression". This is in reference to the crater Kazar, a notable feature on the island.
