Agramontism

From 2123, following the rapid ascension of Sara Sofia Agramonte in party polls due to her populist libertarian rhetoric, until the present, Agramontism has been the predominant ideology of the PRC. Shortly after her inauguration, she began negotiations with other Oikoian countries to form a free trade area, successfully concluding them the following year. It has long advocated for the privatisation of the national construction and mining corporations, but these measures have proved extremely unpopular in national referenda, so only partial privatisation has taken place. Welfare spending under the program was greatly reduced, and UBI was reduced to only CAR$60 a month, sufficient for a basic monthly diet. The 31st Amendment formally abolished all personal income tax, resulting in an influx of over forty percent of the world's billionaires moving to the country over the subsequent two decades. She promoted a strong system of trickle down economics, with billionaires investing heavily into the economy throughout her presidency. However, during the Takeda Administration, these investments declined as the wealth gap began to grow, and median income growth stagnated as well. By the penultimate quarter of 2047, the nominal GDP per capita began to decline for the first time since the Santana recession of the 2070s, and fell by $7500 until late December 2049

Julio Serrano was a populist political outsider who quickly managed to secure the presidential nomination for the PRC in March 2149, and was elected president in the 2149 Carinansian Presidential Election with 45.6% in a highly-contested election against various other candidates. Ignoring allegations of electoral fraud by the Union Socialist Party, he ceased nationalisation efforts, introduced a flat income tax rate of twenty percent, and legalised fossil fuel usage, resulting in the country losing their net zero status for the first time since
