This list of reigning kings and queens of the Kingdom of Horteny begins with Karl III, who ruled Horteny, one of four successor kingdoms to Helderia. Karl styled himself king of the Hortens in about 1270.

Horteny came under the control of Edmund Bloodbeard, a Searic king, after an invasion in 1332. Anniken was exiled in 1334.

Following the death of Harald Blackjaw, Karl the Conqueror returned from exile and was proclaimed king.

House of Searenland (restored)
Following the Battle of Castor on 8 August 1413, Karl signed a treaty with Edmund the Confessor under which Edmund and Karl would rule jointly. After the death of Karl in 1418, Edmund ruled Horteny solely for 29 years.

This house descended from Wilhelm Castor's second surviving son, Duke Stefan I. Stefan II seized power from Olaf.

House of Angechet
Lofar II named Karl V as his heir in his will, directly bypassing his brothers and overruling the laws of succession. The house takes its name from Henri Angechet, the father of Karl. The name Angechet was not actually used as a surname until Karl IX.

Konrad of Horteny was named co-ruler with his wife Katherine, and upon her passing in 1727, assumed full power until his death in 1733.

Interregnum (1741–1803)
Following the Forty-five Years' War, which culminated in a coup d'etat, Konrad was executed in 1741. Kert seized power from Agilulf V of Horteny.

House of Konrad (restored)
Werner's son Lükas Lüdwig was forcibly removed by parliament immediately following his father's death, and the monarchy was restored under Agilulf VI.
