René Sieyès was the first official President of Chenes during the United Republic of Chenes. Originally, Sieyès was the tenth Statesman of Augusta, the most powerful position of the newly colonized area. Originally the son of a fur peddler in Vignobles, Sieyès was an extremely powerful and important figure within pre-unification history and his presidency was started after he was elected during the Augusta Convention. He subsequently established the Commerce Society, the first political party in Chenes. His presidency was marked by two major events, the Penobscot Renewal Era and the Vignobles Rebellion

Assaminasqua's appointment in office was preceded by a vote within the Chenique State Legislature with Sieyès providing much of his support behind Assaminasqua. Assaminasqua was also given support for his non-violent end of the Vignobles Rebellion. Assaminasqua's tenure was marked by major support by a growing number of Wapanaki tribes that had initially split. Assaminasqua embraced a much less violent approach than his predecessor and Audonian government.
