Lukas Motorsport is an F1 motorsports team that is run by the Lukas Motor Company. They are notable for being one of the only teams that had a driver-owner, somebody who was both the creator and driver of the team, Ferenc Lukas, in 1976. They currently compete in the F1 and have Veres Árpád as their main driver and Jordi Gómez as the second driver for the 2021 season.
Establishment (1976)
Lukas Motorsports is a team in F1 founded in 1976 by owner-driver Ferenc Lukas. Lukas Motor Company was an established car company in Lyonheimer in the 1960s, and CEO of the company, Albert Lukas wanted to branch out into the growing motorsport industry. His son, Ferenc Lukas, was a talented driver as well as businessman, and so was made owner-driver in the first season of their time in F1.
The first season was eventful for the new side, picking up points in Blechingia early on in the season but that being the only time during the season in which they had. The team often struggled with engine issues throughout the season, which lead to complications behind the scenes between the drivers.
These early complications did not deter the team, as they continued for years to come, building slowly.
Glory Era (1990s)
Years of developing the car had past, and as the 90s came upon Lukas Motorsport they found themselves near the top of the grid
